Thread Three

True Identity & Sovereignty

Who we understand ourselves to be — peaceful civilians of the land, gathered under one inclusive banner, heirs to those who came before us.

This is the Association's understanding of identity and belonging. It is offered to inspire unity and dignity, not to divide. It is a position for reflection and discussion, not legal advice.

If the previous thread is the hardest, this is the most hopeful. The Association's view of identity is simple and generous: we are peaceful people of this land, and our sovereignty is something we carry rather than something granted to us. This thread is about standing tall — together.

Where to begin

How the Association understands us

01

Peaceful civilians of the land

We identify first as peaceful civilians, People of the soil and the community, committed to non-violence in everything we do.

02

Sovereign people of the Commonwealth

The Association holds that sovereignty rests with the people themselves — a dignity we carry, not a status handed down to us.

03

The ANZAC legacy

We honour those who served and sacrificed, and read their legacy as a call to safeguard the freedoms they believed they were defending.

04

The Red Ensign

The Association identifies with the Red Ensign as a civilian, land-based symbol of the people — the banner we choose to gather under.

05

Sovereign vs. citizen

The Association contrasts the dignity of the 'sovereign person' with what it views as the limitations of the 'citizen' status — a reflective contrast, not legal advice.

06

Faith-based roots

We acknowledge the faith traditions woven through the nation's founding, while welcoming people of every belief and none into a shared, respectful community.

One banner, many people

The heart of this thread is inclusion. We explicitly seek to unite First Nations and non-Indigenous people — to win the country back together first, and then negotiate the future at a shared table. Identity here is not a wall; it is a wide tent. Whoever you are, if you come in peace and good faith, there is a place for you under this banner.

From who we are, to what we do

Identity becomes meaningful in action. The final thread sets out a lawful, peaceful, constructive path.
